"ልዑል ዓለማየሁ ቴዎድሮስ የ ዳግማዊ ዓፄ ቴዎድሮስ እና የወይዘሮ ጥሩወርቅ ውቤ ልጅ ነበር። በ1860 ዓ.ም አፄ ቴዎድሮስ ከእንግሊዞች ጋር ባደረጉት ጦርነት ልጃቸው ልዑል አለማየሁ ቴዎድሮስ ወደ እንግሊዝ ሀገር ተወስዶ ነበር፡፡ በዛሬው የኛ አምዳችንም የዚህን ልዑል ባዕድ ሀገር ኑሮ ልናስቃኛችሁ ወደድን፡፡ ልዑል አለማየሁ ሚያዚያ 5 ቀን 1853 ዓ.ም በደብተረ ታቦር ከተማ ነበር ውልደቱ፡፡"

"በልዑሉ ውልደት የተደሰቱት አፄ ቴዎድሮስም በእለቱ መድፍ ያስተኮሱ ሲሆን 500 ያህል እስረኞችንም ፈትተዋል፡፡ ከልዑሉ ጋር ሲጫወቱ መዋል አፄውን እጅግ የሚያስደስት ነገር ነበር፡፡ ተናደው እና ተበሳጭተው ከነበር እንኳን አለማየሁን ታቅፈው ሲስሙ ንዴታቸው ይበርድ ነበር ይባላል፡፡"

"ልዑል አለማየሁ እንግሊዞች እጅ ከገባ ቡሀላ ከእድሜው ለጋነት የተነሳ የሚጠብቀው እና የሚንከባከበው ሰው ሊኖር ግድ ነበር፡፡ ይህንን የተረዳው ጀነራል ናፔር ካፕቴን ስፒዲ የተባለን ሰው የአለማየሁ ጠባቂ እንዲሆን መደበው፡ ፡ ምክንያቱ ደግሞ ካፕቴኑ የአማርኛ ቋንቋን አቀላጥፎ መናገሩ ነበር፡፡"

"በተጨማሪም አለቃ ዝርዓት እና አቶ ገብረመድህን የተባሉ ሁለት ኢትዮጵዊያን ሞዚቶች እና አጫዋቾች¬ ተመረጡለት፡፡ አለማየሁ ከጠባቂው ስፒዲ ጋር ፌሬዝ በተባለችው መርከብ ተሳፍሮ በ1860 ዓ.ም. ወደ እንግሊዝ አቀና፡፡"

"በመርከቢቱ ላይ በነበራቸውም ቆይታ ስፒዲ እና አለማሁ እጅግ የጠበቀ ወዳጅነትን መስርተው ነበር፡፡ ስፒዲ በሄደበት ቦታ ሁሉ አለማየሁን ማስከተል ያዘወትር ነበር፡፡"

"ይህንን የሁለቱን ፍቅር ያየው ጀነራል ናፒየርም ኢትዮጵያውያን ሞግዚቶቹ ወደ ሀገራቸው እንዲመለሱ ይልቁንም የአለማየሁን ሀላፊነት ሙሉ በሙሉ ካፕቴን ስፒዲ እንዲረከብ ስለወሰነ ሁለቱ ሞግዚቶች ጉዞው ተጠናቆ እንግሊዝ ሀገር ሳይደርሱ ከስዊዝ ወደ ሀገራቸው እንዲመለሱ ተደረገ፡፡"

"ምንም እንኳን የእንግሊዛውያኑ የታሪክ ድርሳናት ይህንን ቢሉም ልዑሉ ኢትዮጵያውያን ሞግዚቶቹን በተባለው መጠን አምርሮ ይጠላቸው እና ባያቸውም ቁጥር በብስጭት ያለቅስ እንደነበር ማረጋገጫ የለንም፡፡ ከሶስት ወራት የመክረብ ላይ ጉዞ በኃላ አለማየሁ እንግሊዝ ሀገር ደረሰ፡፡ "

"እዛ አንደደረሰም የወቅቱ የእንግሊዝ ንግስት ከነበረችው ንግስት ቪክቶሪያ ጋር ተገናኘ፡፡ ንግስቲቱም ልዑሉ የፈለገው እና ያሻው ይደረግለት ዘንድ ቀጭን ትዕዛዝ አስተላለፈች፡፡"

"ልዑሉ በመቀደላ የነበረውን እልቂት በመጠኑም ቢሆን በማየቱ እና የአባቱ እና የእናቱ ተከታታይ ሞትም በልጅ አዕምሮው ሊቀበለው ከሚችው በላይ ስለነበር እጅግ ታውኮ እንደነበር በተደጋጋሚ ተፅፎ እናገኛለን፡፡ "

"ስፒዲ ልጁን እንዳይጎዳው በማሰብም በስፒዲ ላይ የልዑሉን ጉዳይ በቅርበት የሚከታተል ተቆጣጣሪ አስቀምጠውበት ነበር ይባላል፡፡"

"አንድ ግዜ ንግስት ቪክቶሪያ ስለ ልዑሉ በእለት ውሎ መመዝገቢያዋ ላይ ከመዘገበችው መሀል “ልጁ ጨዋ እና ውብ ልጅ ነው፡፡ ኬክ መብላት ደግሞ ይወዳል፡ ፡ የሰጠሁትንም ኬክ ሁሉ ጨርሶ በላ፡፡”

"የሚል አረፍተ ነገር ተፅፎ እናገኛለን፡፡ ንግስቲቱ በተደጋጋሚ ለዚህ እናት ለሌለው ልጅ እናቱ እኔ ነኝ ስትል ትደመጣለች፡፡ ለልዑሉም የተለየ አክብሮት እና ፍቅር ፤ ልዩ ትኩረትም እንደነበራት ድርሳናት ዘግበውታል፡፡"

"ምንም እንኳን ከንግስቲቱ ጋር የነበራቸው ወዳጅነት ከግዜ ወደ ግዜ እየበረታ ቢመጣም ከሀገሩ ሲወጣ አብሮት የነበረውን ካፕቴን ስፒዲን ግን ለአፍታም አልዘነጋውም ነበር፡፡ በየትኘውም ስፍራ ሲሄድ ስፒዲ አብሮት እንዲሆን ይፈልጋል፡፡"

"ግብዣም ሲሄድ ሆነ ከልዑላን ልጆች ጋር እንዲጫወት ሲጋበዝ ስፒዲን ትቶ መሄድ አይሆንለትም፡ ፡ ቤተ-መንግስት ሲገባ እንኳን ስፒዲን አስከትሎ ነው፡፡"

"ስፒዲ እና አለማየሁ አብረው ይበላሉ አብረውም ደግሞ ይተኛሉ፡፡ አለማየሁን ለብቻው ማሳደግ የከበደው ስፒዲ ልጁን በማሳደግ ትረዳው ዘንድ ሚስት ለማግባት ወሰነ፡፡ ከዛም ወ/ሮ ኮታንን አገኘ እና አገባት፡፡"

"አለማየሁ እና ወ/ሮ ኮታንም ለመዋደድ ግዜ አልወሰደባቸውም ነበር፡፡ በ1861 ዓ.ም ስፒዲ ህንድ ሀገር በምትገኝ አንዲት ከተማ አዛዥ ሆኖ ስለተሾመ የ8 ዓመቱን አለማየሁን እና ሚስቱን ይዞ ወደዛው አቀና፡፡"

"በሄዱበት ሀገርም አለማየሁ ትምህርቱን መከታተሉን ቀጥሎ የነበረ ሲሆን ከመደበኛው ትምህርት በዘለለም ፈረስ ግልቢያ እና ሌሎች ስፖርቶችንም ያዘወትር ነበር፡፡"

"ልዑሉ በዚህ አይነት ከቆየ በኃላ ቻንስለር ሮበርት ሉዊ ልዑሉ የቀለም ትምህርት ላይ ከሚያዘወትር ይልቅ የወታደር ትምህርት ቤት ገብቶ የፈረስ ውትድርናን እንዲማር መደረግ አለበት ሲሉ ያቀረቡት ሀሳብ የልዑሉን ህይወት እስከወዲያኛው የለወጠ ነበር፡፡"

"ይህም ሀሳብ ተቀባይነትን ስላገኘ አለማየሁን ከስፒዲ ነጥሎ በመንግስት ቁጥጥር ስር ለማድረግ እና የውትድርና ትምህርቱን እንዲከታተል ተወሰነ፡፡"

"ይህ ውሳኔ ግን ለአለማየሁም ሆነ ለስፒዲ ከባድ ግዜ ነበር፡፡ ስፒዲ እና ሚስቱ አለማየሁን ላለመስጠት ከባድ ትግልን አደረጉ፡፡ ነገር ግን ትግላቸው ውጤትን አላስገኘላቸውም፡፡ ይልቁኑም አለማየሁ ወደ እንግሊዝ ሀገር እንዲመለስ ተወሰነ፡፡"

"ስፒዲም አለማየሁን ይዞ ወደ እንግሊዝ መጣ፡፡ የአለማየሁ አዲሱ አስተማሪ እና ጠባቂ እንዲሁኑ የተመረጡትም በአስተማሪነታቸው የተመሰከረላቸው እና በደግነታቸው የታወቁት ቄስ ብሌክ ነበሩ፡፡"

"አዲሶቹ የአለማየሁ ጠባቂዎች አለማየሁ ስራ እንዲሰራ ወሰኑ፡፡ በወጣለትም ፈረቃ መሰረት በሳምንት ለ 31 ሰዓት ተኩል ያህል ማንኛውንም አይነት ስራ እንዲሰራ ተወሰነ፡ ፡ የስፒዲ ሚስትም ይህንን በመቃወም ጠባቂው ለነበሩት በቢዶልፍ ደብዳቤ ላከች፡፡"

"ቢዶልፍም ለሉዊ አለማየሁ አንዳንድ ግዜ እየሄደ ከስፒዲ ሚስት ጋር ግዜ እንዲያሳልፍ ሲሉ ትዕዛዝ አስተላለፉ፡፡ በትዕዛዙም መሰረት የስፒዲ ሚስት ከአለማየሁ ጋር እንድትውል ተፈቀደላት፡፡"

"ሚስቱም አብራ ውላ ያየችውን እንዲህ ስትል በደብዳቤ ገልጣለች፡ “ማደጉን ቁመቱ አድጓል፡፡ መልኩ ግን ገርጥቷል፡፡ አካላቱም ከስቷል፡፡ ዝምተኛ እና ጭምትም ሆኗል፡፡ ከወንዶች ልጆች ጋር እንዳይገናኝ እና ከእኩዮቹም ጋር እንዳይገናኝ ተደርጓል፡ ፡"

"ውጪ እየወጣም እንዳይዘል ታግዷል፡፡ እየደጋገመም ‘አብረውኝ የሚጫወቱ ልጆች አጣሁ፡፡ ቅዳሜ እና እሁድ ብቻ ከሁለት ልጆች ጋር አንድጫወት ይፈቀድልኛል፡፡"

"ሊያጫውቱኝ የሚመጡትም እነዚህ ልጆች ሁልግዜ እነሱ ብቻ በመሆናቸው ተሰላችተናል፡፡ በሌላ ቀን ግን የሌሎች ልጆችን እጅ አንኳን ጨብጬ አላውቅም’ ብሎኛል፡ ፡ ይህንን የመሰሉት ነገሮች ያበሳጩታል፡፡ "
